The Course to Republican Redemption

With the election of 2008 over the Republicans, and rightfully so, got spanked and they have no one to blame but themselves and here's why. We the people put them(the Republicans) in power and they betrayed us by acting like Democrats. If we are to regain the majority the next chairman must call a press conference immediately and say: " We understand that you the people own this country, that we serve you and not ourselves. You the people put us in power in 1994 based on our promises. As a result we betrayed our promises, betrayed our conservative values, betrayed your trust, and betrayed you. We have no one to blame but ourselves for our betrayal of you and ultimate loss. For these betrayals we are sorry. And to prove that we're sincere we vow, not promise, to: expel all corrupt members, cut unnecessary spending, lower government controls, institute term limits, institute an honor code for party members, and increase military/space spending. We promise not to: increase spending on unnecessary projects, allow corruption in our party, betray our conservative values, or betray our promises or you. We further vow that we will only serve the people and not "'special interest"'. We only ask that you forgive us and believe that we will completely clean house by removing the corrupt cancer in our ranks. We will only support clean, honorable candidates with integrity". Following the press conference the Republicans must then move to expel corrupt members like Ted Stevens and Duke Cunningham. And in 2010 the Republicans must then run only candidates who must vow not to take political or campaign gifts from anyone. Only through these actions will the Republican party be able to clean up its image. Only through the complete top to bottom house cleaning will the people be able to trust the Republicans. Finally the Republicans must remember that if elected they cannot turn Democrat without dire consequences. If the Republican party fails to admit their betrayals they will never be believed again.
